Owls, Windmachines, Gravedigging and Ritual Magick, Zorn’s strange and mystical monodrama for mezzo soprano and ten instruments is presented here in a beautiful new studio recording. Composed for the Bayreuth Opera Festival in 1998, the Rituals premiere was a bit of a scandal, with the audience split down the middle…half outraged detractors, stomping out, whistling and jeering and half cheering supporters. Performed here by a stellar group of Zorn regulars and some very special guests, Rituals is opera at its virtuosic and intimate best. Five movements of magic and alchemy from the crucible of an uncompromising and unpredictable musical maverick.

I'm downloading all three of the Zorn albums. Looking foreward to listening to them
Cheers
These are quite abit different than Zorn's solo releases. He doesn't appear on any of these but he wrote and produced all of the music. My fave is Magick but it's a hard, scary listen!
Thanks for the comment Nick. I appreciate it :)
Gracias por los Zorns, Residents usw
Once again, some great posts, all three Zorn posts are much appreciated. Looking forward to more in the future.
For many years I bought every Zorn CD he put out. A few years ago, I finally decided 60 - 70 CDs were enough. But thanks for posting these so I can catch up a little on what he's been up to.
Mr. Lucky: I know what you mean. When the Masada series began it was only supposed to be 4 cd's but the waterfall never ended. I think there's 15 now. Started to get a little much I thought. Seems like Zorn puts out an album every month. How could anyone keep up! :)
Thanks for the comments.
Words are not enough to thank you… I just finished listening to Rituals… You are a demigod! :) Take care, J.
no probloem Jorz. Glad you like. Hope you will check out Magick also. Pretty scary but amazing music! Thanks for the comments. :)
