Wax Trax Black Box 3 Disc Boxset (1994)

Black Box commemorates Wax Trax!'s output as an independent record label prior to
its purchase by TVT Records. In particular, Black Box celebrates Wax Trax!'s place

as the seminal American industrial label, featuring acts such as Ministry (and its

numerous side projects), KMFDM, Meat Beat Manifesto, Coil, Laibach, and many
others.

Black Box is notable for containing the Trent Reznor Vocal Version of 1000 Homo

DJs' "Supernaut." Reznor's vocal recording was not used on the original Wax Trax!

release because of pressure from his then-current record label—coincidentally, TVT

Records. Absent from Black Box is the work of Front 242, whose releases on Wax

Trax! (originally licensed from Play It Again Sam) are not represented because of

disputes with Epic Records, which had recently obtained the rights to Front 242's

catalogue.

I think that should be "Black Box celebrates Wax Trax!'s place
as the seminal American industrial DISCO label", there's nothing too industrial about their output. But that's a time-worn observation...

H: What a great frickin' box! Your post reminds me to pull mine out and give it a listen, it's been so long. Remember the loose tape that was in the metal tin edition?

Anonymous: Not sure which definition of Industrial you're using but old Wax Trax is seminal Industrial, no doubt about it.

Yeah, I remember the loose cassette tape too damn well! Took me months to actualy reel it all together. I still have it. No way to record cassette to comp. at the moment though.

Many thanks for posting this box set! I've been missing these sounds for some time. I bought this limited edition set in the 6000 range and unfortunately had to sell it much later when I was in dire need of cash. I have very fond memories of dancing to these tracks 20 years ago at 17+ "rated-R" club nights. Kudos to you for redistributing the wealth. Those of us who have paid tenfold into the system appreciate the small return :)

Thanks so much for the upload. This indeed takes a mo'fo' back. I used to think Ministry was the only outstanding player on Wax Trax! I guess I was mistaken.
